Since 1946, the shop on Rue des Écoles has been kitting out lovers of mountain peaks, hiking trails and unobstructed views. People come here for a tent, a rucksack or a pair of shoes. Today, Au Vieux Campeur is opening a new shop, true to its original spirit, but focused on a different way of experiencing adventure. Because adventure doesn’t always begin at the ends of the earth. Sometimes it starts just round the corner. With the launch of its ‘Au Vieux Campeur – Congés Payés’ lifestyle range, the brand is building on its heritage. It’s a direct nod to the founder, Roger de Rorthays, who, in the 1930s, worked at La Samaritaine in a department called ‘Congés Payés’. An expression steeped in history, symbolising a social achievement and a new way of life: that of leisure time. The new boutique embodies this spirit.
