The Mediterranean Highway, or AP-7, is the main thoroughfare connecting all roads in the Spanish Mediterranean coast, from Algeciras to France. Its first section, inaugurated in 1969, was widely highlighted in Francoist propaganda, as a symbol of progress and starting point of Spanish consumer society
Today, the image associated with this road is well far from the optimism of the 1970s, and the landscapes and architecture that punctuate it arouse a feeling of strangeness.
This research and archiving project aims to go beyond nostalgia in the story of progress and tourism in Spain
